Dan McCabe is a visual artist based between Brisbane and Perth, who explores the contemporary Australian suburban and urban landscape. In 2012 he completed a Bachelor of Fine Art with Class 1 Honours at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. McCabe has been included in a number of solo and group exhibitions, showing at A-CH Gallery, Griffith University Art Gallery, John Paynter Gallery, Queensland Centre for Photography, Perth Centre for Photography, Centre for Contemporary Photography, Metro Arts, Ryan Renshaw Gallery, Moana Project Space and Perth Fashion Festival.
McCabe has also exhibited as a finalist in various art competitions across Australia, most notably receiving a Judges Commendation at the Joondalup Invitation Art Award in late 2014. In 2014 he also completed a 6 week residency at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts interrogating the concept of temporary shelters and interventions in the landscape. For the Kickstart Program and Next Wave Festival, McCabe will realise concepts and prototypes developed from his time at PICA to create customised, fully functional camouflaged tents to exist in the Melbourne urban and suburban landscape. McCabe is also the Exhibition Co-ordinator at Moana Project Space, Perth.
