Over the past 40 years Next Wave has continued to shape and shift with the times.

As we consider the next phase of our evolution, we’re seeking feedback from the extended Next Wave community so we can hear from you about what the arts sector needs and help shape the future of Next Wave.

“Next Wave has played a vital role in the lives and careers of thousands of artists and arts workers over the past 40 years,” said Next Wave CEO Elyse Goldfinch.

“Like many arts organisations, we’re navigating the challenge of doing more with less—but we also see this as a powerful moment to reflect, refocus and reimagine what’s possible.

“As an experimental multi-arts organisation with our home in the heart of Bulleke-bek (Brunswick), we’re excited to ask big questions about how we can best support the creative community into the future.

“Through this community check-in, we’re inviting people to share how they’ve connected with Next Wave in the past—and to help shape the kinds of programs and opportunities they want to see next.”

The survey asks questions about your connection to Next Wave and our programming, values and future—and can be completed in about 15 minutes.

To show our gratitude to survey respondents, we’re going to be giving away some limited-edition Next Wave caps, designed in collaboration with Wasielah Noorsjamsi—a member of An.Other Collective (and one of our 2024/25 Kickstart artists).

Help us ensure that Next Wave continues to evolve as an organisation that champions transparency, equity, and bold, experimental ideas—supporting the next generation of cultural voices that will shape our creative future.

If you need this survey in another format—including Word document—or you’d prefer to provide feedback via phone or in writing, contact Maddie Lakos (Communications Manager) at maddie@nextwave.org.au or by calling 0400 762 296 for assistance.

The survey is open until Monday 14 July.
