Next Wave is 40 years young in 2024.

To mark this incredible milestone, we turned to a group of creative practitioners to make a micro-documentary reflecting on Next Wave’s past, present and futures.

When Next Wave emerged in 1984 as ‘Victoria’s Festival of Young People and the Arts’, it was the first of its kind.

Four decades, 18 festivals, a transition to year-round programming and thousands of dream-realising moments later, we remain comitted to the future of early-career creative practitioners.
