Alasdair Doyle and Liam James are two early-career visual artists based in Tasmania. Their collaborative efforts have transitioned between festival and gallery contexts, in roles both curatorial and practice led. Inclusive of this is founding and directing the digital art and music festival Electrona 7054, a three day fête that played with the contingency of the modern Australian lifestyle. In 2015, Liam James undertook Seven Sisters: The Sailing Ones, a new exhibition of photographic works at MONA; with the creative and technical support of Alasdair Doyle. Furthermore, in late 2015, the pair worked with Tasmanian sculptural artist Grace Herbert on a Hobart City Creative Department supported project, Land of Milk and Honey. The immersive exhibition activated three historic locales with site-responsive new media works, examining contemporary attitudes and perspectives of land. Alasdair and Liam’s work questions the homogenous perceptions of society suspended between cultures, time and space.
