Meet Kickstart artist: Kartanya Maynard (TAS) đ„
Kartanya Maynard is a trawlwoolway woman of nipaluna/Hobart in lutruwita/Tasmania. Since a young age Kartanya has been a storyteller and always aspired to be an artist. She has gone onto establishing herself as a musician, actor and poet.
She has graduated from the University of Tasmania Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music and has gone onto perform for numerous festivals such as Mona Foma and Panama Festival. She has also contributed to the composition of music for numerous plays and museum exhibitions.
She recently made her acting debut in the Archipelago productions of Angus Cereniâs âThe Bleeding Treeâ where she starred alongside Marta Dusseldorp and Jane Johnson. At the moment Kartanya is working on a fiction novel and soundscapes.

For twenty years Kickstart has worked with early-career artists, inspiring them to create their most ambitious work to date, presented at Next Wave Festival in Melbourne. Alongside our plans for 2022 and beyond, we reconsider and reinvent what our legacy commissioning and artist development program could be.
