Red Cabbage

Founded in 2001, Red Cabbage were Melbourne based collective producing immersive, roving installations and visual performances until 2009. Utilising highly conceptual frameworks and a developed visual language, they devised site-sympathetic projects, aiming to provide an enchanting yet unsettling perspective on modern concerns.

Part of the Kickstart Program in 2005, Red Cabbage presented Hedge-mony as part of the Next Wave Festival 2006, aligned with the Commonwealth Games Cultural Program. The ‘hedge-heads’ were featured in the international ‘See the Games We Play’ advertising campaign and the project was also profiled on the ABC Sunday Arts program. Their last major work Collapse took place at the Old Port of Melbourne in 2008.

The work of Red Cabbage has been aligned formally to the Splinters Theatre Company (A.C.T) Punch Drunk (UK) and PVI (Perth).
