Louris is a playwright from Melbourne. She is being mentored by Arena Theatre Company Artistic Director Christian Leavesley through the Australia Council’s JUMP program. Louris is currently studying a Masters of Writing for Performance at the Victorian College of the Arts and has recently been shortlisted for the Inscription Edward Albee Scholarship.
Her most recent work was Hello There, We’ve Been Waiting For You (dir. Samara Hersch) which premiered in the 2014 Next Wave Festival in partnership with the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. In 2013 Louris was invited to participate in the Malthouse Theatre’s Besen Family Artist Program (Writers Development), where she began writing a new work, TRIUMPH, under the mentorship of Malthouse Literary Associate Van Badham. TRIUMPH was further developed at the Northcote Town Hall through the Darebin Speakeasy Program, and was directed by Mark Pritchard and will be presented at the MTC NEON UP LATE season in July 2014. Also in 2013, Louris co-wrote the short film SUPER with Samara Hersch for Access Inc., an organisation for young people with intellectual disabilities. For St Martins’ Youth Arts Centre, Louris was Writer/Dramaturg on Before the Dark Hour of Reason Grows, a new work for adult audiences, performed by children ranging from six to sixteen years. Her other projects include Tuesday (MKA 2012, TheatreWorks In the Works 2012, MKA@MTC 2011, dir. Brienna Macnish), Living Cities (Punchdrunk/Arcola Theatre & Playwriting Australia), Hunny-Bun & Baby Doll (Melbourne Fringe Festival, St Martins) Don’t Look Now (St Martins, dir. Susie Dee) and They’re All in Their Little Boxes (St Martins).
