Heal Country

This week we celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from across this continent of many nations.

We acknowledge that the origin of #NAIDOCWeek is seeded in decades of protest and activism by First Peoples, fighting the ongoing injustices and systemic structures against them, in place as a result of colonization. We respect that this work is ongoing, and there is much to do.

This year’s theme #HealCountry calls for collective participation in caring for Country. For conscious connection to the land you are on or visiting. To care and protect Country’s waters, valleys and sacred sites from exploitation and destruction. For consideration of the nuances of Country to sustainability, identity and community. To centre truth-telling of First Nations lived experiences and their rich and dynamic culture spanning 60,000 years.
