Sophie Kitson

Sophie has spent the last few years focusing on architecture and design, public programs, invigilating, writing and arts administration for various Australian and Italian-based arts institutions. Most recently, she has been working at the USA Pavilion for the 55th Biennale di Venezia; has been a curatorial assistant for Alaska Projects’ Director Sebastian Goldspink; completed a 3-month internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Venice; and was the lucky recipient of the Firstdraft 2012 Emerging Curators Program. For Next Wave 2014, Sophie will be curating an exhibition of the photographs of Jack Mannix, to be held at CCP.

Sophie was born in Sydney and completed a B Art Theory at COFA. She is an emerging curator who aims to mix her interests of performance, spatial relations, constructions of identity, Georges Bataille, experimental film & music, land art and rocks with various projects exploring notions of failure.
