Art news worth knowing about

Next Wave are in muumuus!!!

Except for me. I’m in skinny blacks and manning the hipster-fort with a sweaty brow and soy capp in hand. 34 degrees, I hate thee.

In other news, Serena and I had a whirlwind trip of Sydney earlier this week. We saw some Bacon. I describe it as terrifying and depressing. Damian Hirst, however, has his own...ahem...insightful opinions on Bacon. He watches his Bacon more than his TV, did you know?

We also saw some contemporary arrrrt at MCA’s Primavera. Serena liked Justine Vagra’s work. I didn’t. I said I enjoyed Benjamin Forster’s work. Arguments ensued. We made up over ice-cream at Gelato Messina.

Want more Sydney art? This week’s Pegboard will encourage you to see Robin Hungerford at Gallery 9 and get your groove on at MCA ARTBAR where Claire Finneran will be DJing.

Want some Melbourne art? I’d recommend heading to Kodak Salon at CCP to hear Serena and others in-the-know answer the question, “What makes a good photograph?” Read on to find out more, sweat over giveaways and get your muggy hands on some special offers. And now for your highlight of the internetz, some sensual Icelandic moves set to the cool tunes of Sigur Ros.

Okay, off to the North Melbourne swimming pool....seriously.

See you soon,

Daniel Santangeli
Program Coordinator
