SEXES Festival

Over the next month, Performance Space is sexing it up. SEXES is a subversive festival of visual and performing arts exploring sexuality and gendered identities in Australian culture. Curated by Bec Dean, Deborah Kelly and previous NW Artistic Director Jeff Khan, SEXES will transform Carriageworks with a free exhibition, stimulating performances, talks, dirty movie screenings and erotic readings. Get amongst some of Australia’s most thrilling visual and performing artists including NW alumni Atlanta Eke, Parachutes for Ladies and LEVEL in a live art program that spans performance tours, a participatory clothes-swapping event, durational spectacles, and much more.

Liesel Zink at 2high

Oni is a highly physical performance drawing on elements of contemporary dance, theatre and the art of TATE (Japanese sword stage fighting) to explore and deconstruct the Japanese mythological figure of the ‘Oni’, a demon representing darkness and otherness. NW Alumus Liesel Zink collaborates with Ron Seeto to blend theatrical swordwork with contemporary dance to form a wholly unique amalgamation of physical story telling in this 2high festival premiere.
