In case you missed it at Next Wave Festival 2016, Rani P Collaborations’ Sedih // Sunno is running at Metro Arts in Brisbane Tue 2 Aug – Sat 6 Aug. Sedih is Bahasa Indonesia for ‘sadness’. Sunno is ‘to listen’ in Fijian Hindi. Sedih // Sunno is a gentle invitation to listen to sadness.
Four artists accompany you through treasured heirlooms to reveal hidden family legacies. Collections of Indonesian Batik form intimate spaces in which to listen, as memories filter through a richly woven encounter with ritual, music and movement.
From the team that created the award-winning Chinese Whispers (2014 Melbourne Fringe Festival Award for Best Live Art and Kultour’s Innovation in Culturally Diverse Practice Award), Sedih // Sunno is a contemplative and uplifting experience that asks: what have we inherited from those before us? And what do we want to pass on?
