Freeplay Independent Games Festival is back! Beginning in 2004 as part of the 2004 NWF program, Freeplay has grown to become a key cultural event for the independent games sector on a national scale.
This year, Freeplay will be hosting a series of playful nights in the CBD all next week in the lead up to the ninth Freeplay conference this September at the State Library of Victoria. The conference interrogates the culture of independent games through a series of panel discussions, talks and events.
For its 2013 festival, Volume of Revolution, Freeplay has secured internationally renowned game developers Erin Robinson and Steve Swink to deliver keynote speeches. And for the first time, the Freeplay Awards ceremony will also be open to the general public! Hosted by comedian Dave Callan, Freeplay will honour the year’s best and brightest Australian independently-developed games.
