8 hours in Screen Space


NWF 2012 artist Michelle Sakaris continues her exploration of ritual and tradition with Monument to the 8-hour day at Screen Space this month. Questions of what is work and what is non-work, and what place art has within the division, is central to the project. Comprised electronic cigarette company of a series of performances at the monument to the 8 hour day, near Trades Hall in Melbourne, the video installation at Screen Space questions the legislated working week and the artists’ place in the economy.
