Next Wave opens the call for Expressions of Interest for projects to be part of Next Wave Festival 2016. We’re looking for a small number of projects across artistic disciplines for presentation in Melbourne in May 2016.
We will accept EOIs for projects that are experimental, political and interdisciplinary across any artform – however we particularly seek:
– theatre or performance
– online works
– discursive projects that encourage critical thought within and around the festival through writing, speaking or other means
Next Wave supports new work by emerging artists. We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and GLBTIQ artists to apply, as well as artists with a disability.
The festival is being made without one single theme, but through many intersecting lines of thought. This list is the beginning of an attempt to catalogue them:
Artists participating in Next Wave’s programs receive artistic and producing guidance from our expert staff, brokerage into funding and presentation contexts, and connections to like-minded peers across the country.
On Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September 2015 we’ll be gathering all artists participating in the Festival in Melbourne for briefing and workshops. This two day gathering is compulsory for all applicants. We’ll cover travel and accommodation within Australia for one artist per project.
Expressions of Interest have now closed.
